Last, offering effective facial treatments including extractions to move you through your journey to clear skin.

What to expect from your first acne treatment.

Your first acne visit will begin with a thorough consultation surrounding your history with acne, current skin condition, as well as any factors that could affect your acne journey, such as lifestyle habits, medications, and allergies.

During your treatment, Kelly will focus on extracting acne lesions. An extraction is a process of clearing a clogged or compacted pore using sterile tools and precautions that reduce the risk of scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. They can be uncomfortable, but the results are worth it!

Following the treatment, an appropriate at-home regimen and treatment plan will be established to get you clear ASAP. Please expect to purchase at least two products on your first visit. The Skin Reform offers some of the best professional skincare brands out there and will craft your regimen based on your acne needs. Trust Kelly, she has been clearing acne successfully for years!

What to expect after your first acne treatment.

There are no lies — following your first acne visit, your skin may feel and appear a bit rough. Keep in mind, this is not a spa facial. The acne treatments are to drive results and clear your skin. Depending on your skin, you may have some lingering redness and swelling around the extracted areas. With that being said, it is promised that this will pass and your skin will feel great in no time!

Acne Tips.

Icing. Icing can help to reduce the swelling and inflammation of an acne lesion. Place an ice cube directly on the affected lesion for thirty seconds, remove for thirty seconds, and repeat three to four times. If you are icing a larger inflamed area rather than one specific acne lesion, place the ice directly on the area and massage for a total of two minutes. Do not hold ice in one particular place for more than thirty seconds at a time. Icing is a great tool for post-treatment extractions and any time that you feel an inflamed acne lesion arising.

Sensitivity. Experiencing some sensitivity with your new skincare regimen? A bit of redness, dryness, and sensitivity can be common as your skin acclimates to new and active ingredients. If this occurs, you are permitted to take it easy until your sensitivity has subsided. Stick to a gentle cleanse diluted with a bit more water than usual, and acne-safe moisturizer. A bit of petroleum jelly is also helpful. When your skin has built back its strength, ease back into your regular skincare regimen.

Diet. Diet and acne have been discussed for years, however, we find that diet is typically not the root cause of acne. Typically, changes to your diet are not made immediately. If Kelly senses that your acne may be related to your diet, we will get to the bottom of it together. The one exception to this is cow milk. Milk contains androgen hormones and therefore can increase testosterone production in the body. Testosterone can be linked to stimulation of the sebaceous glands resulting in oiler skin that is more prone to pore blockage. Try to keep the consumption of cow milk low. This includes milk-based protein powder supplements as well.

Supplements. Increased levels of biotin, iodine, and b12 have been found to trigger acne, and therefore we recommend avoiding any supplements or vitamins with these ingredients when possible.
